2006 Cultural Capital Designation

West Vancouver has been designated as one of the 2006 Cultural Capitals of Canada by the Department of Canadian Heritage. The designation comes with an award of $500,000 for activities that celebrate and build a lasting legacy for the arts and culture.

The Benefits to our Community include:

• Enables our community to promote and invest in arts and culture.
• Provides recognition of excellence and support for arts and culture activities and integration into overall community planning.
• Strengthens connections with other communities through shared cultural experiences.
• Increases the profile of District of West Vancouver as a venue community of 2010 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
